Forte online music lessons can provide a teaching experience similar to a face-to-face class. Many busy families have found that learning online is very appealing. Attending classes online from home also holds appeal for those students who find it difficult to travel to the school.

Taking classes online opens up the possibility of learning any instrument, with options for beginner or advanced lessons (group or solo).

For a limited time, until February half term, Forte School of Music is offering a FREE ONLINE TASTER LESSON to new students of all ages. When we are able to open again for face-to-face lessons, you can either transfer to our face-to-face group / solo lessons or continue with our online lessons. Here are some tips to get the most out of your online lesson time

1. Be Prepared and Create a Distraction Free Zone!
One of the most important things you need to do is make sure your teacher can see your face, hands, and instrument clearly.
No matter the device you use – desktop, laptop, phone, or tablet – turn off notifications before the lessons. Even a quick little ding with a text or email will distract your child from what the teacher is trying to do.

Rest the screen somewhere at your child’s eye level. The bigger the screen, the easier it will probably be for your child to watch, discern small changes in technique, and pay attention. Don’t try to hold your phone up for an entire lesson for your child to see.
2. Test your technology.
Before your child’s first online music lesson, test your technology at home. Then spend some time on the platform yourself, so that you are aware of what the features are. Also fully charge your device before the lesson and have a charger nearby or you could even keep the device plugged in during the lesson!
3. The long-term goals of online music lessons remain the same.
We want everyone to firstly love making music and then to play correctly and beautifully.
Many students prefer online lessons as they feel less pressure and we have found that some students have particularly benefitted in gaining more confidence learning from home. Group lessons online importantly provide the opportunity for classmates to keep in touch and enjoy music together.
4. Your attitude is the most important predictor of success.
If you see the transition to online music lessons as an adventure, your child will be more likely to mirror your enthusiasm.

again for face-to-face lessons, you can either transfer to our face-to-face group / solo lessons or continue with our online lessons. Here are some tips to get the most out of your online lesson time.
