Join our teaching team at Forte School of Music Cardiff
The commitment
You will need to make yourself available for the full 5 hour period on a weekday evening, or 8 hour period on a Saturday. The bond between teacher and student grows strong, therefore students and their parents can feel quite despondent when a teacher leaves. For this reason we ask for a minimum of a two school year commitment. Suitability Applicants must be team players and interested in self improvement, as well as looking to stay with us long term, as we like to provide our students with continuity, wherever possible. It may be that you are not currently teaching, though would like to get into it, or would like to return to teaching after taking a break - some of our best teachers have changed career to become music teachers! Applications Online application forms for teachers can be found on the national Forte Music site using the following links: Application requirements Apply online Applicants applying for administrative posts should apply using the contact form on this page. Current vacancies
We are currently seeking to fill the following positions, though we welcome applications from teachers of all instruments throughout the year and will contact applicants to attend an information session when one is scheduled:

Our teaching Team
At Forte Cardiff we have approximately 16 teachers working part time, each teaching between 1 and 5 days per week. The school itself is open 6 days a week. Teaching hours Daytime Our early childhood programmes run during the daytime. If you're a Mum or have worked with mothers and small children these programmes are a delight to teach. Evenings and Weekends Most of our private and class tuition is conducted between 3pm and 8pm during the week and from 8:45am to 4:30pm on Saturdays. Building a full teaching timetable While sometimes it is possible to pick up a full schedule of work, usually it will take a few months to build a full daytime or evening timetable. Be patient - student numbers will grow if you are able to build good relationships with your students and their parents, and when you keep the interest of students stimulated. Continuous self-improvement Forte teachers commit to improving their teaching skills constantly, throughout the teaching year. By regularly recording and observing lessons, our experienced senior staff will guide teachers to become the best that they can. By responding to feedback and participating in the training provided, Forte teachers can successfully retain and inspire their students, with full classes and timetables for many years to come. Meetings Forte staff are to required to attend two annual staff meetings, held in February and October. These are held late evening, after the teaching timetables have ended. Food will be provided and these are a valuable opportunity to meet colleagues who work on other days, as well as being a chance for staff to contribute thoughts, ideas and feedback. Events We have two highly popular events in the Forte calendar - the Playathon in the autumn and the Forte Festival in the summer. Our opening hours Monday - Friday 9:30 am - 8:00 pm Saturday 8:45 am - 4:30 pm |
