SNOW! SNOW! SNOW!

Tonight (Wednesday, January 13th 2010) the Caerphilly school will be closed.

The Cardiff school remains open, though Miss Donna will be unable to reach the school to teach.  If you have lessons with Mr Tony or Mr Martin, please contact them direct regarding your lesson.

Miss Jane's classes & lessons are going ahead.

Please consider your own safety when deciding whether or not to attempt a journey to the school.  While main roads are clear, many side roads can be slippery.

Up and coming...

This year's annual charity is the National Autistic Society.  We will be supporting them through a series of events throughout the year.  Watch this space for details!

PLAYATHON III

Forte pupils will be returning to the Millennium Centre for the third year to complete their Playathon challenge of providing four hours of non-stop piano music.  Each pupil will be sponsored to play for two or five minute slots and all monies raised will be going to our annual charity above.  The individual who raises the most money will win themselves the fantastic prize of a trip to Shabbey Road Studios, Caerphilly, to record their very own CD!

We returned to the Oakdale Workman's Institute at the National Museum in St Fagans and saw the first performance of the Forte Band Club group (see video below).  If you have any more good photos, e-mail them in and we'll see if we can put them up on the website...

Playathon is a success again.

October saw lots of Forte students step on the Tesco stage at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay to play for 4 hours for our second Playathon. Students raised hundreds of pounds in sponsorship in aid of our new yearly charity - Barnardo's and Crossroads Young Carers.

Cardiff Christmas Concert 2007

On the 15th of December we held a Christmas Concert in the Church Hall in Danescourt. The Orchestra accompanied the Audience in singing 2 carols and played "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". One of our Drum Classes played a piece together and we heard lots of solos and duets from Forte students.
Congratulations to everyone who played.

Forte Concert Season 2007

In a change to our annual Forte Music Festival we held various concerts in Cardiff and Caerphilly.

The Cardiff Spring Orchestra Concert was held in the church hall of Danescourt Parish Church. The Orchestra played 3 pieces and various students played solos. Drinks where served by the church and the bring and share food was enjoyed by all.

The Cardiff Showcase was held in the Oakdale Workman's Institute at St Fagans Museum of Welsh Life. Almost 300 students performed with their class or as a solo and everyone involved performed very well and had lots of fun.

The Caerphilly Showcase was held at the Bedwas Workman's Hall.

Well done to everyone who performed.

Sixth South Wales Forte Festival - May 2006

Forte 06

The 2006 Forte Music Festival was once again, held at the Reardon Smith Lecture Theatre at the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff and saw the first performance of the Forte Orchestra (for all ages and abilities). From 1pm on the 6th we heard a marvelous array of performances until 5pm on the 7th. All of those involved performed very well and had lots of fun.

The Festival is designed as an opportunity for all Forte Students to perform on stage in front of an audience of up to 400 family and friends and receive a commemorative festival badge and certificate to celebrate the occasion.

Well done to all of you who performed - we'll see you next year.

Festival fever in South Wales - May 2005

Festival fever' hit the Forte Schools of Music in South Wales again in 2005 as we staged the biggest Forte Music Festival so far. Over the May weekend, students from our Cardiff, Caerphilly and Cowbridge schools performed on stage at the Reardon Smith Lecture Theatre in the centre of Cardiff. For the first time this year we invited Monkey Music Students to join in the festival fun with their parents. Everyone had a fantastic time and all of the 600+ entrants played superbly.

We are all looking forward to the 2006 Festival. Here are some photos of this year's fun.

Forte Festival in Wellington - April 2005

Forte School of Music in Wellington had it's very first Festival Concert in April 2005. Most of Wellington's students performed and everyone had a wonderful evening of celebrating our pupil's achievements. Here is a photo of all the students performing the "Hello Song" on stage.

Halloween at Forte

At the start of November the Cardiff, Cowbridge and Caerphilly schools took part in Halloween week. Many pupils and teachers dressed up in their scariest costumes to raise a massive £250 for the charity Scope.

Thank you too all who took part and contributed. Click on the montage of photos below to link to the scope website.
