Forte
pupils will be returning to the Millennium Centre for the fourth
year on Sunday, October 10th, 2010 to complete their Playathon challenge of providing four
hours of non-stop piano music. Each pupil will be
sponsored to play for two or five minute slots and all monies
raised will be going to our annual charity. The
individual who raises the most money will win themselves the
fantastic prize of a trip to Shabbey
Road Studios,
Caerphilly, to record their very own CD!
SUMMER
CONCERT
We'll be
giving Forte pupils a new opportunity to showcase their talents
at Acapela
in Pentyrch. The converted chapel provides an impressive
performance space with a Steinway grand piano and seating for an
audience of 180 on two floors. The concert is going to be
professionally recorded and CDs will be available by pre-order.
FORTE
FESTIVAL 2010
Sunday
June 13th sees the pupils from Forte Schools of Music in Cardiff
& Caerphilly joining forces at the St Fagans National
History Museum. Over 300 performers will be taking to the
stage, some doing solos or duets, while many will be playing
with their classes.
The Forte
Festival gives pupils a chance to perform in front of an
audience in a non-competitive environment.
SNOW!
SNOW! SNOW!
Forte
Cardiff stayed open throughout the cold snowy weather, with the
majority of lessons going ahead as normal. Miss Jane even
stayed overnight at the school to make sure that she didn't get
stuck in her car on the way home one night!
Forte
Caerphilly did have to close the door during the severe weather
as teachers & pupils made their way home before the roads
closed. Unfortunately after 2 hours Miss Jo had to abandon
her car in Caerphilly & walk for another hour and a half to
get home!
Up
and coming...
This
year's annual charity is the National
Autistic Society. We will
be supporting them through a series of events throughout the
year. Watch this space for details!
PLAYATHON
III
Well done
to everyone who took part in this year's Playathon at the Wales
Millennium Centre, raising almost £1,200 for the National
Autistic Society.
Congratulations
to Philippa Thomas who won herself a fabulous trip to a
recording studio by raising the most money with her sponsored
performance. Philippa took friends along and they recorded
their very own CD.

Festival
fever in South Wales - May 2005
Festival
fever' hit the Forte Schools of Music in South Wales again in
2005 as we staged the biggest Forte Music Festival so far. Over
the May weekend, students from our Cardiff, Caerphilly and Cowbridge
schools performed on stage at the Reardon Smith Lecture Theatre
in the centre of Cardiff. For the first time this year we invited
Monkey Music Students to join in the festival fun with their
parents. Everyone had a fantastic time and all of the 600+ entrants
played superbly.
We are all looking forward to the 2006 Festival. Here are some
photos of this year's fun.

At
the start of November the Cardiff, Cowbridge and Caerphilly
schools took part in Halloween week. Many pupils and teachers
dressed up in their scariest costumes to raise a massive £250
for the charity Scope.
Thank you too all who took part and contributed. Click on the
montage of photos below to link to the scope website.
